Third Step- If cleared the pre-examination you become eligible to attempt the main IPS Examination which is for 1400 marks and essay type paper.
Fourth Step- After qualifying the Final IPS examination the aspirants will appear for the interview of IPS officer. Who will score 450 to 450 will become the successful candidate and they will be going to attend the IPS officer training for a year. They can start working for the State and Central Government.

Eligibility For IPS
To apply for the IPS examination a candidate must be an Indian citizen. Physical Requirement For IPS
Physical standards for UPSC civil services includes the height of IPS, Chest, Eyesight, High BP, ear and nasal functioning. Female should be pregnant at the time of IPS physical test.
- There is different height required for IPS for male and female.
- IPS height requirement for male: 165 cm, 160 cm (ST not SC/ OBC)
- Height for IPS female: 150 cm (Gen), 145 cm (ST not SC/ OBC)
- Chest for Male: Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
- Chest for Female: Minimum 79 cm expansion 5 cm.
- 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 vision for the worst eye.
- A color Blind test is taken for every candidate.

- Age 23 – 123
- Age 24 – 124
- Age 25 –122
- Age 28 – 124
- Age 30 –125
- Age 32 – 126
- Age 34 – 127
Listening power should not be more than 30 decibels and frequency should be 1000 to 4000. An individual should not stammer while talking.
Educational Qualification For IPS
A candidate can appear on the UPSC examination that has completed his graduation from any Indian reorganized university or equivalent degree. The stream could be anything. Final year appearing candidates are also eligible. UPSC enforcement officer exam pattern is simple yet tricky. It is conducted in two stages-
- Preliminary IPS Examination: It is basically of objective type and a candidate should qualify this to appear in the next stage. It held on every year in May/June.
